Last issue, I suggested that I might take over the e-mail list. Well, I haven't had time to learn the new software. Maybe next time. I bought a new digital camera. So look for more images being posted on the site soon.
Does anyone out there know how to use Adobe Acrobat software? I am looking to put my books on cd-Rom. Contact me if you have the knowledge and experience.

Company Focus: Green Mountain http://www.onewest.net/~gmi/

There is a new trap on the market called The Collarum. It is reputed to be a humane canine capture device. Visit their web site. They have video of how the trap works. It is quite impressive. I was able to speak with a company rep at the National Trappers Convention and the Eastern Animal Damage Control Conference. The trap exploits the canine's desire to bite and pull. A recent study found that the trap did very well on the injury scale (severe injuries caused by damaged teeth as the coyote bit the metal cable). It also had a very low as in Zero non-target catch rate. The trap only caught canines. Will the anti's accept this trap? No. Why? Because it seems to work and not cause severe injury. If they let this trap through, then they couldn't keep fighting the trapping industry.

Anti Watch (NOW ARF WATCH) Animal Liberty

This anti site http://animalliberty.com/animalliberty/main.shtml is just your typical dose of New Age/Gnostic paganism under the guise of Biblical spirituality. I noticed that their initial image didn't deify the rat. For some reason, it is hard to believe that rats are emissaries of light and love on the Earth. I think the millions that died in the Black Plague might have a different opinion.

Continuing Education : The least Shrew

If you would like to learn about this species that is endangered in Connecticut visit http://dep.state.ct.us/burnatr/wildlife/factshts/leshrew.php They have a fact sheet there for you. I know it isn't a major nuisance species. But I think it is important to learn about all wildlife.

The Trap: http://www.awesometools.com/TheTrap.php I found this page recently. It sells a premade figure four trap trigger. The idea is you can make your own traps without the high cost. It might be something worth looking at for those of you needing new traps for easily trapped animals. I would love to hear from you if you have tried this particular device.

Raccoon Roundworm on the Web. http://www.oshd.org/phl/imglib/bayegg.php If you want to learn more about this dangerous roundworm, then visit this site. It has video on the worm. Visit only if you think you can handle it.

What's New at WDC

I am still adding more products and am always looking for new products. If you have something to sell, I would love to hear from you.

If you work in Indiana. You will want to be familiar with the Indiana Animal Damage Control Association. You can visit their web site at http://www.iadca.homestead.com/

Marketing is always a difficult task for animal damage controllers. I subscribe to the Art of Self Promotion. http://www.artofselfpromotion.com/ The newsletter is a bit expensive, 30.00 dollars for four issues per year. But I do find her perspective interesting and occassionally, I can find something valuable for animal damage control. I would suggest you purchase back issues or ask her for a special. You can also read some of her articles on line. So you get to try her out before you buy. I don't make any money on this recommendation. But I would appreciate it if you mentioned my name.

I enjoyed visiting the NTA and the Eastern Animal Damage Control Conference. I was a moderator for one of the break out sessions. I just want everyone to know that the industry is continuing to mature and the future is bright. As antis' continue to get rid of free animal control services, nwco's can fill the void in very profitable ways. The key is training and positioning. I would suggest all of you visit http://www.nwcoa.com and get the information on certification. Yes, it is finally available. Print it out and become certified today. (Just a reminder, I am a board member of NWCOA and the contact person for certification. However, I make no money for this).
