HOUSE KEEPING:

There is no doubt about it, The Wildlife Damage Control Specialist newsletter is growing. We now have over 125 recipients
of the letter. Obviously most of the thanks is due to the large number of animal activist wage earners who subscribe. I am glad
to have you along. I think it is important that you have at least one place where you can find the truth.

I would also like to remind everyone to make sure your virus programs are up to date. Although I update regularly, I cannot
always be sure an accident won't happen. I am considering changing my procedures and putting the full text into the e-mail
rather than using an attachment. We'll see what the future holds.

COMPANY FOCUS:

This issue's focus is on a newly organized group called the National Wildlife Control Operators Association, or NWCOA for
short (it is pronounced NEWCOA). Although it only became officially organized this year, it has already had an impact on the
nation. Our president Tim Julien has been cited in a couple of national publications including the Wall Street Journal and Pest
Control magazine. Our purpose is to further the issues and professionalism of the animal damage controller in the field. We
are working on certification standards and guidelines that will cover a host of issues.

Presently members receive a bi-monthly newsletter for the twenty five dollar annual membership fee. Members also have
access to a program to allow them to accept credit cards and low cost liability insurance. Unlike other insurance, this one was
designed to meet the needs of the NWCO. If you have looked at insurance, you know that you either get a fur trapping insurance program or a pest control insurance program. This insurance provides the middle ground coverage that NWCO's need. Plus there is no restrictions on mole traps like with the fur trapper's insurance.

If you would like to learn more about this organization, obtain an application form or just find out who our officers are
click http://www.wildlifedamagecontrol.net/nwcoa.php Just a couple of caveats: First, the reader should know that I am an
officer of NWCOA. So I believe in this organization. Second, the page, although created by me, is governed by the NWCOA board. Its presence on my web site is not to be construed as an endorsement of my web site or its contents. Readers should
remember that although I am an officer, I can't speak for the whole board and my views are my own and not necessarily those of the NWCOA organization.

ARF WATCH (formerly known as the anti watch)

You may have noticed that the title of this section has changed. I got some grief over calling animal rights
activists, anti's. I was told that the term was not professional enough. So I asked people what they thought
would be a more appropriate term. The term needed to be descriptive as well as pejorative. As my readers know, I
have very little respect for this movement and bosses who run it. It was suggested to me that I use the term, Animal
Rights Fanatic or ARF for short. I like the term except that I find it redundant. Anyone who believes in animal rights is
already a fanatic. I also like the term animal rights protest industry. Not as pejorative as I would like but it does
accurately portray these organizations as money machines and in the business of protesting. My trouble with this
phrase is that it doesn't permit an easy way to talk about the individual participants of the animal rights movement. For
example, do I say animal rights protest industry proponent? That is just too long. So I hope you can see my
quandary and dilemma. I would welcome some insight from you.

Here is one area that I do need some help. As you may know there are a lot of anti animal rights sites that mention
various stupid quotes from animal rights fanatics. The trouble I have is determining whether or not the ARF's
actually said them. Here is one quote reputed to be from Michael Fox of the HSUS.

"The life of an ant and the life of my
child should be granted equal
consideration." --Michael Fox (HSUS)

Now if this statement was truly made by Mr. Fox and if he is in fact an employee of the HSUS, I am grateful to Jesus for not
allowing me to be Mr. Fox's child. But my question is did Mr. Fox actually say this? My other problem is finding ARF's willing
to go on record that they actually said these stupid things. Could one of my ARF readers please help me out on this? Inquiring
minds want to know? If you can't determine the origin of this stupid quote, perhaps you could shed some light on the numerous
ones attributed to PETA.

Continuing Education:

There are a lot of great articles coming out in the Wildlife Society Bulletin etc. publications. I hope to spot light some of
them next issue. But I came across a wonderful web publication that you can download for yourself for free. The Texas
Agricultural Extension Service has produced a booklet entitled Coping With Coyotes. Its twelve letter size pages long and would be worth looking into. You can look at the copy on line at http://wildlife.tamu.edu/publications/TAEXWildlife/WILDPUBS/A014.PDF
Just be sure to obtain a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader so you can view the files. Acrobat reader can be found free at a variety of web sites or from Adobe itself.

What's New at WDC

Wildlife Damage Control web site is certainly growing. We have recently launched our Wildlife laws page. This will be a
resource for web sites dealing with state laws and animal damage control organizations. It will act as a clearing house for
information. We only have a few states listed, but we would appreciate new links. We want links from State wildlife agencies,
state trapping associations and state NWCO associations.

I am also pleased to have been published in the November 1 issue of the Bottom Line Magazine.
(http://www.bottomlinepersonal.com/). On page 14. I am proud to be a part of a new movement toward sound and scientifically based animal damage control information. Given the interest in my book etc, I see there is a great hunger for accurate, effective and responsible information.

We are also launching our own referral and watch dog program. Essentially we want to find out who the best animal
damage control companies around the country are. People claim there are quacks out there. We want to know who they are. Why not help us show who the best and the worst are. For providing information we will send you a free copy of the Massachusetts Guide to Homeowners and Bats. You can learn more about our program at http://www.wildlifedamagecontrol.net/referralprogram.php

Finally, I have started a web ring called the Wildlife Damage Control Specialist Web Ring. In order to join, you must
have a web site involved with animal damage control, selling products related to animal damage control and you must not be an
animal rights activist. In other words, if your site states that lethal control is always wrong don't bother to apply. Pest Control Sites can join provided they have a substantial service to the animal damage control needs of their customers (I know that by looking at your web site) If your site is 95% bugs, don't bother to apply.

Company Resources: Canada Goose Effigy Manufacturer

http://www.interlog.com/~deadduck/ This web site sells dead duck decoys. Allegedly, these dead duck decoys convince the animals to leave the pond or other site. When I revisited the site to get more info for this spotlight, I noticed his image links were broken. I e- mailed him and warned the owner of this. Hopefully by the time I publish, the links will be repaired. I am not sure what to think about this technique. I have not seen any scientific data on the effectiveness of effigies. This spotlight is for
informational purposes only. WDC is not receiving any compensation for this spotlight. http://www.blp.net/index.html

Closing Comments: Everybody loves Prizes.

I have a prize to be given away. It is a guard animals booklet on how to protect livestock from coyotes. I am looking for
information related to animal damage control. The best information will be sent the booklet free of charge.

Thanks for reading. As always I love to hear what you think
